Obelisco blu di Nimrud

Obelisco blu di Nimrud (The blue Obelisk of Nimrud), 2021, acrylic and collage on canvas, 180 x 138 cm.

The Blue Obelisk of Nimrud is a blue madrepore stele on which 3 bas-relief scenes have been carved. In the same way, on the blue Obelisc are shown daily life moments, in the place in which they are born.

During those centuries, in Nimrud, in addition to the subdued rulers, during the nights of full moon, lions and bulls took on human form and begin to dance.
The tales intertwine and the narrative ends with all that the full moon has managed to bring with her. The Blue Obelisk of Nimrud is an attempt to understand the silhouette. Everything that our eye recognizes by striving to bring it to fruition. It is understanding a line, which becomes the hand's memory of the alphabet letters. A boundary line that reacts, allowing itself to be completed by the movement and gaze of the observer.
