La Danza del picchio Giano

La Danza del picchio Giano (The Dance of Janus Woodpecker), 2021, acrylic and oil con polyester, 190 x 140 cm.

The painting intends to emphasize the layering of past and future, intimate and public narratives, aimed at making the translucent surface of the fabric visible.

The Dance of the Janus Woodpecker is the representation of a painting carried out on the back that leaves its trace on the front, forgetting which one is which. It intends to describe the transparency of the fabric and the relationship between intimate and public co-exist on the same surface in a continuous crossing of the fabric itself. Just like the two-faced God Janus, one of the most ancient Roman Gods, symbol of transformation and passage between past and future - The dance of the Janus woodpecker - represents an initiatory moment of change, accentuated by the symbol of the woodpecker as an indication of perseverance and dedication to metamorphosis.

The initiation into the present, the need to linger even on the invisible, specto a, looking at both moments, at the stratification of bodies with the insistence of the woodpecker and the aim of constituting the current necessary criticality.
